Chambray fabric

Garment Fabrics

Chambray

Chambray is woven with a coloured warp and a white weft in a plain weave, which gives it the heathered look of light denim with the softness and weight of a shirting. It is breathable, comfortable and hard-wearing, and it is used for shirts, dresses, kidswear and casual uniforms. Supplied in cotton and blends, in the shade, weight and width you specify.

Questions

About Chambray

How is chambray different from denim?

Both use a coloured warp and white weft, but chambray is a lighter plain weave while denim is a heavier twill. Chambray is soft enough for shirts and dresses.

Can you match a chambray shade?

Yes. Send a swatch. Because the colour is in the warp yarn, we match yarn shade and warp density together.
